Man accused of assault on West Carthage bridge

CARTHAGE — William J. Pate, 28, of 40469 Rogers Crossing Road, was arrested by village police Tuesday on allegations that he assaulted a man on the bridge to West Carthage.

He was released on $500 bail following arraignment before Village Justice S. Lucille Shettleton on a charge of third-degree assault.

Police said the incident occurred late Nov. 2 after the two men had a disagreement in a tavern. The victim, Chad McKenna, 31, of 19 Stone St., West Carthage, was treated at Carthage Area Hospital for unspecified injuries.
