DEFERIET — Margaret A. Nabewaniec , 92, 10 Wilna Ave., passed away Saturday at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after a brief illness.

She was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 31, 1919, the daughter of Isaac & Ellen Wager and resided in Deferiet for over 65 years. She was a graduate of St. Agnes High School, Syracuse NY and worked as a beautician for years and also at Fort Drum and Fox Drugs in Carthage. She married Aloysius “Alex” Nabewaniec on August 8, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas. She enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Citizens Group of Deferiet and doing crafts around the house. She was a member of Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, Great Bend.

She was predeceased by her husband Aloysius, in December 1987 and an infant daughter Lucinda.

She is survived by three sons Edward John, Deferiet, Robert (Pamela) Carthage and Ronald (Glenda) Jamesville, NY, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Scherer Funeral Home, which is located at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Joyce Woodcock and Deacon Richard J. Staab officiating. Burial will follow in New St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home. www.lundyfuneralhome.com
