Woman injured when rig strikes side of her vehicle

LOWVILLE — A woman was injured when her car was hit by a tractor-trailer at 6:54 a.m. Saturday at Route 12 and outer Clinton Street in the town of Lowville.

Lewis County sheriff’s deputies said Tammi Mack, 48, no address provided, was driving east on Route 12 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto outer Clinton Street and her car was hit in the side by a gasoline truck driven by Mark Swartout, 47, Boonville.

Ms. Dack’s head hit the side window, causing a cut and minor bleeding, deputies said. She was taken by Lewis County Search and Rescue to Lewis County General Hospital for treatment.

Mr. Swartout was charged with following too closely.
