Patricia Steele Harrison

DEXTER — Patricia “Patty” Steele Harrison lost her battle with cancer on Saturday and died at her home in Belle Glade, Fl with her son and daughter by her side. Her son David resided with her and her daughter Barbara lives in Georgia.

She was born Patricia Myrth Steele on February 27, 1939 in Dexter, NY. She was the first child born to her parents, David and Olive Steele. They lived on Brainard Street until the death of her father David in 1954. Her mother Olive was the History teacher at Dexter High School and died in 1951.

She graduated from General Brown High School in 1956. It was the first graduating class of the school. After graduating she moved to South Florida with her Aunt Myrth and Uncle Pete Pietro. She married Harold D. Harrison on Nov. 10, 1957. He was a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. They lived in several different areas before settling in Belle Glade, Fl. They divorced in 1976 and he died in 2003.

She lived most of her life in Belle Glade, Fl where she worked in sales for American Growers and Sugarland Produce. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Canal Point and an avid Dolphin Football fan.

Surviving are a son David of Belle Glade and daughter Barbara of Georgia. Two grandchildren, Racheal Harrison and David Allen Harrison, two great grandchildren, a brother Richard Steele of Fayetteville, Ga; and two sisters, Mary Steele Newbanks of Hialeah, Fl and Patti Pietro Snyder of Palm Coast, Fl. A brother Howard Steele died in 2004 and a brother Raymond died in 2009, both of Chaumont, NY.

A memorial service will be held next month in Belle Glade, Fl and a graveside burial will be held early summer in Dexter Cemetery.
