Lucky 13s for Saunders in Carthage win over IHC

Zakiya Saunders registered 13 points, 13 rebounds and eight steals for Carthage in a 40-29 Frontier League “A” Division girls basketball victory over host Immaculate Heart Central on Wednesday.

Gabby O’Brien added 10 points to go with five blocks and five rebounds for Carthage (7-2 overall, 3-2 league).

Christine Wright led IHC (6-4, 4-1) with nine points, and Briana McClusky scored eight.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 63, GENERAL BROWN 16

Arin Crowell connected on six 3-pointers, finishing with 18 points for the Spartans in their “B” Division victory over the Lions in Adams.

Brooke VanCoughnett tallied eight points, five rebounds and four assists for South Jefferson (6-0). Clarissa Perry added 11 points and Amanda Roberts had nine assists.

Katie Pitkin led General Brown (5-3, 4-3) with seven points.

SACKETS HARBOR 56, LAFARGEVILLE 34

Olivia Kolb led the Patriots with 25 points, six assists and six steals in their “D” Division victory over the Red Knights in LaFargeville.

Taylor Fields added eight points and seven blocks for Sackets Harbor (6-4, 6-1).

LaFargeville (4-5, 3-3) received 18 points from Krysti Brow.

HAMMOND 58, HEUVELTON 33

Courtney Bova scored 19 points as Hammond got off to a 38-16 lead by the half and went on to defeat Heuvelton in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game in Heuvelton.

Alyssa Crosby added 17 points for the Red Devils (6-2, 3-1). Logan Tallman scored 11 points for Heuvelton (8-4, 3-3).

Lisbon 45, Chateaugay 35

The Golden Knights (4-4) made 10 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Chateaugay and claim a nonleague victory in Lisbon.

Alison Akins led Lisbon with 15 points and Gabby Walker added 11 for the Golden Knights. Courtney Boyea and Mikayla Fleury each scored eight points to lead Chateaugay (4-3).

BOYS BASKETBALL

THOUSAND ISLANDS 63, SANDY CREEK 61 (OT)

Quincy Aubertine scored a game-high 25 points for the Vikings, who outlasted the Comets in overtime for a Frontier League “C” Division victory in Sandy Creek.

Nick Nevala and Anthony Ingerson contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Thousand Islands (5-3).

Josh Bradberry provided 23 points and nine rebounds, while Reis Harding had 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Sandy Creek (3-5).

HOCKEY

Norwood-Norfolk 4, Potsdam 4 (OT)

Gunnar Brown scored two goals, including the tying goal at 7 minutes, 41 seconds of the third period, to lead the Flyers (2-5-2, 1-3-1) to a tie with Potsdam in an interdivision game in Norfolk.

Zeb Brown and Troy Kovach also scored for the Flyers, who came back from a 4-2 deficit in the second period.

Jacob Woods, Hayden Hart, Robbie Scott and Cody Compeau scored for the Sandstoners (2-4-1, 0-0-1).

St. Lawrence 5, Malone 3

Hayden Beaulieu, Devon Euto and Ian Lynch each scored one goal with one assist as the Larries (4-3, 2-2) edged Malone in a Division II game in Brasher Falls.

Blake Baldwin and Franklin Pullano also scored for St. Lawrence Central. Jacob Henning, Cameron Daniles and Peter Laramee scored for the Huskies (1-7, 1-3).

Salmon River 4, Tupper Lake 0

Matt Healy stopped 13 shots and Adam Bomberry and Naylen Laffin each scored one goal with two assists as Salmon River defeated Tupper Lake (0-9, 0-4) in a Division II game in Fort Covington.

Oakley Thomas and Shawn Avery also scored for the Shamrocks (6-0-1, 5-0).

MASSENA 7, ISLANDERS 4

Tyler Lashomb and Zach Roberts each netted a pair of goals as the Red Raiders rallied to beat the Islanders in a Division I matchup.

Lashomb also had an assist for Massena (8-2).

Tony Bobkoskie, Ethan Whitton and Drew Parisian each had a goal and an assist for the Islanders (3-6-1), which is a merger of the Alexandria and Thousand Islands programs.

CORCORAN 7, IHC 3

Andrew Jackson netted a hat trick and an assist as the Cougars downed the Cavaliers in a non-league game at Corcoran.

Steve Young scored once and picked up three assists for Corcoran (8-3).

Lindsey Pound led Immaculate Heart Central (2-6-1) with the two goals and an assist.

VOLLEYBALL

LOWVILLE 3, SOUTH JEFFERSON 2

Ashley Capone accounted for 15 kills and four blocks to help the Red Raiders eke out a 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 23-25, 27-25 Frontier League “B” Division victory over the Spartans at Lowville.

Nicole Roggie distributed 24 assists, while Tasha Widrick supplied 15 assists and 13 service points, and Paige Lyndaker hit eight kills for Lowville (6-1).

Brook Laisdell finished with 12 kills and five blocks, and Jackie Decker added 12 assists for South Jefferson (7-2, 6-2).

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 3, INDIAN RIVER 2

Kelsea Taylor tallied 13 digs, 10 kills and four aces as the Panthers rallied to a Frontier League interdivision win, 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21, in Philadelphia.

Jordan Fitzgerald supplied eight aces, eight kills and three digs, while Stephennie Nichols provided six kills, five aces and four digs for Belleville Henderson (3-4).

Paige Morgia led Indian River (1-6) with six kills and seven assists.

SOUTH LEWIS 3, THOUSAND ISLANDS 0

Jennifer Strigle supplied 22 assists and five digs to help the Falcons earn a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 “C” Division victory at Turin.

Sara Young provided 16 kills and two blocks, and Tasha Ortlieb added 11 service points, three kills, six assists and five digs for South Lewis (6-2).

Thousand Islands is 0-8.
