MASSENA — A 20-year-old Massena man was jailed early Monday after being charged by state police with numerous counts following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend about 7 p.m. Sunday at their residence.

Joseph R. McMahon, of 128 Quinnell Road, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is accused of grabbing Barbara A. Marshall by the throat and sweatshirt and throwing her onto a couch. Troopers said he then grabbed a ceramic plate and threw it at the couple’s 1-year-old daughter, with the plate missing the child and striking a window.

Mr. McMahon was arraigned by Town Justice James M. Crandall and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.
