Clarkson (11-10-5 overall, 5-4-3 ECAC Hockey) will be on the road the next two weekends, beginning with games at Union and Rensselaer this weekend and then a trip to Brown and Yale next weekend.
The Golden Knights are 2-01 in their last three games and 3-0-2 in their last five conference games and have moved into a tie for third place (when using win percentage) with Colgate.
Clarkson beat Rensselaer 4-1 on Nov. 4 in the conference opener but lost 3-1 to Union the following night.
Here's coach Casey Jones discussing the upcoming trip and a few other things:
One of Clarkson's pleasant surprises this season has been senior forward Louke Oakley, who has 11 goals and 12 assists so far this season. He also, as shown in this video, can maintain concentration even when teammate Corey Tamblyn is trying to distract him.
To be fair to Tamblyn, before he was distracting Oakley, Oakley was distracting him. Tamblyn has excelled in games against Rensselaer during his career, scoring five goals in five games. In last year's 3-2 overtime win in Troy he scored the game-tying and game-winning goals.
Saturday's game at Union will be a big challenge for the Golden Knights. Clarkson has lost five straight games in Messa Rink and is 0-7-1 in its last eight games in the building. In the last three contests there Union has outscored the Golden Knights 26-5. Defenseman Andrew Himelson spoke of the challenge that will be presented in the game.
