CANTON — St. Lawrence County legislators have agreed to urge the Adirondack Park Agency to fight a recent court decision that designates Lows Lake as wilderness, the park’s most restrictive category, which prohibits the use of motorized vehicles.

“The APA is going to appeal this. We’d just ask them to vigorously appeal it,” said Legislator Scott M. Sutherland, R-Pierrepont. “The APA doesn’t agree with the classification it’s at now, set by a midlevel judge.”

Lows Lake is a man-made lake, created by the construction of two concrete dams, in the towns of Colton and Clifton in St. Lawrence County and the town of Long Lake in Hamilton County.
