Carthage edges Lowville in wrestling

CARTHAGE — Erik Jessell recorded a pin at 182 pounds to highlight Carthage’s Frontier League 43-39 interdivision win over Lowville on Wednesday.

Jessell, a freshman, pinned Lowville senior Lymen Mecca in 4 minutes, 41 seconds. Shayne Brady (170) and Andrew McFarland (113) also won by pin for Carthage (10-7, 5-6).

Michael Duffer (152) and Shawn Widrick (126) recorded pins for Lowville (10-7, 3-4).

VOLLEYBALL

CARTHAGE 3, INDIAN RIVER 0

Soli Stevens-Ogaz finished with nine kills and four blocks to help lift the Comets to a Frontier League “A” Division victory at Philadelphia.

Heather Miller hit eight kills, and Claire Sauter recorded 14 assists.

Carly Sullivan chipped in with 11 assists and two kills for Carthage (9-6, 9-3).

Paige Morgia registered four kills and six assists, while Jasmine Beltran supplied four kills, two aces and two blocks, and Heather Green added three aces and two kills for Indian River (3-11, 3-10).
