Kellie Greene, an Oswego County native, is formally announcing her candidacy for Congress at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Ramada Inn on Arsenal Street.
But as a reader pointed out to me, the news release announcing the formal announcement misspells the village she's currently living in.
It's Sackets Harbor, not Sacketts Harbor. You can find the spelling with two Ts on old maps, and on an old battleship, but that spelling is now antiquated.
The reader didn't catch this one, but the news release also misspells the candidate's name on one occasion. It's Kellie Greene, not Kellie Green.
Ms. Greene is looking to run for Congress as a Republican — she deems herself "The ONLY Principled Conservative" in the race, due in part to her anti-abortion stance — in the north country. She lived in Arizona for some time, and moved to Sackets Harbor with the intention of getting in the race. Her political consultancy group is from Arizona.
Republican Matt Doheny, an Alexandria Bay native who now lives in Watertown after a stint in New York City, has the inside track on that race. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, holds the seat. It's shaping up to be quite the competitive race.
