Esther L. Jones

ELLISBURG — Esther L. Jones, 83, of Madison Lane, Hamilton, NY, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

She was born March 14, 1928, in Hamilton, a daughter of John and Lora MacCarthy Lamb. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1945 and Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College in 1947. Esther was a cook at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville until her retirement in 1995. She had previously worked at the Gerrit Smith Infirmary in Eaton and Roger’s Market in Hamilton. Above all, Esther was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother whose favorite times were spent with her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton.

Among her survivors are seven children and their spouses, including a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Laurie Jones, Ellisburg, 16 grandchildren, including Megan Jones Fletcher and her husband, Christopher Fletcher, Bridgewater, N.J., and Patrick Jones, and his wife, Rosa, Arlington, Va.; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family will celebrate her life and receive friends at the Colgate Inn, Payne St., Hamilton, NY on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 1pm.
