Mr. & Mrs. Leon Walker — 50 years

CHAUMONT — Mr. and Mrs. Leon Walker observed their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 24. They celebrated by renewing their vows Nov. 26 at the Christian Life Center with the Rev. Jim Hayes officiating. The ceremony was attended by friends and family, including Mr. Walker’s mother, Catherine Walker, who will be 89 on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker were married Nov. 24, 1961, at Chaumont Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Albert Smith officiating.

Honor attendants were Fred Walker, brother of the groom, and Jeanne Crosby, sister of the bride.

Mr. Walker retired from the Jefferson County Highway Department in September 2003 after 16 years of service. He formerly worked for the town of Lyme Highway Department and Black Clawson.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker have lived in Chaumont for 49 years.

They have seven children, Laurie O’Kay, Pulaski, Leon Walker Jr., Vermont, Louise Trainham, Watertown, Lisa Salisbury, Chaumont, Larry Walker, Dexter, Lynn Walker, Michigan, and Lyle Walker, Brownville; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
