ALEXANDRIA BAY Troy Wilson scored 33 points as third-seeded Lyme jumped out to a big early lead and upset No. 2 Alexandria 78-52 in a Frontier League D Division boys basketball semifinal on Friday night.
The Indians (11-6) advanced to the D Division final against top-seeded Sackets Harbor at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Community College.
Wilson also dished out seven assists and had five steals for Lyme, which raced to 22-6 first-quarter lead and led 43-20 at halftime. Angelo Williams contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds, Dakota Booth had 13 points and Tim Morrow 10 points and 11 rebounds in what coach Leo Wilson said was his teams best performance of the year.
Our press really got us going and everybody executed well tonight, Wilson said.
Alexandria (14-3) was led by Nick Speach with 18 points.
WATERTOWN 53, CARTHAGE 48
Dustin Pond scored a game-high 16 points as the No. 2 Cyclones took a big early lead then barely held off the No. 3 Comets in the final quarter of an A Division semifinal at Case Middle School.
Watertown (8-8) plays regular-season champion Indian River for the A Division title at 6:30 p.m. Monday at JCC.
Ernest Dauda also contributed 10 points for the Cyclones, who led 27-18 at halftime and by eight points heading into the final quarter. Carthage (3-13) got within two points late in the game. The Comets were paced by Walter Jeter with 13 points and Ben Martin with 10.
INDIAN RIVER 96, IHC 37
Quincell Rahmings recorded a triple-double, scoring 20 points, grabbing 16 rebounds and handing out 12 assists as the top-seeded Warriors rolled over the No. 4 Cavaliers in an A Division semifinal at Philadelphia.
Darrius Bryant led all scorers with 23 points for Indian River (15-1), while Stanley Kelly and Rayshan-Shakur Clark scored 12 points each and Will Moran 10.
Jude Whalen netted 13 points for No. 4 Immaculate Heart Central (6-10).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 59, LOWVILLE 21
The top-seeded Spartans easily advanced to the B Division championship game as 10 different players scored in a semifinal at Adams.
South Jefferson (14-2) plays No. 2 General Brown for the B Division crown at 8 p.m. Monday at JCC.
Tom Bassett and Mitchell Modlin each scored 14 points, while Matt Bero contributed 12 points and six rebounds for the Spartans, who led 34-10 at halftime. Ryan Clark also handed out six assists.
Fourth-seeded Lowville fell to 2-14.
BEAVER RIVER 63, SANDY CREEK 30
Alex Hall had 19 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks as the top-seeded Beavers coasted past the No. 4 Comets in the C Division semifinal at Beaver Falls.
Adam Scheider chipped in with 12 points for Beaver River (15-2), which plays No. 2 Thousand Islands in the C final at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at JCC.
Zach Halsey paced Sandy Creek (3-14) with nine points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
IHC 62, INDIAN RIVER 49
Briana McCluskey and Lindsey Netto each scored 17 points as the No. 2 Cavaliers overcame a big first-quarter deficit to beat the No. 3 Warriors in an A Division semifinal at Immaculate Heart Central.
IHC (9-7) plays top-seeded Carthage at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at JCC for the A Division title.
Netto also grabbed eight rebounds, Christine Wright had 11 points, four rebounds, five assists and seven steals and Kayla Miles contributed 11 points for the Cavaliers.
IHC trailed 20-7 in the first period, then went on a 15-0 run to seize a 26-24 halftime lead. The Cavaliers outscored Indian River (9-7) by 25-10 in the third quarter.
Katie Brierton had a big game for the Warriors with a game-high 25 points.
CARTHAGE 50, WATERTOWN 31
Zakiya Saunders supplied 10 points, six assists and eight rebounds as the top-seeded Comets defeated the No. 4 Cyclones in an A Division semifinal at Carthage.
Chrissy Cook scored 11 points, and Jessica Ryan grabbed seven rebounds for Carthage (14-2).
Katie Aldrich scored a game-high 12 points for Watertown (6-10).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 81, LOWVILLE 34
Austin Stevens scored 19 points as the top-seeded Spartans routed the Red Raiders in a B Division semifinal in Adams.
Amanda Roberts contributed 16 points and dished out five assists for South Jefferson (16-0), which faces Altmar-Parish-Williamstown in the B Division final at 8 p.m. Tuesday at JCC.
Anna Platz led No. 4 Lowville (1-14) with 16 points.
SOUTH LEWIS 26, BEAVER RIVER 17
Rachel Newell scored all nine of the Falcons points in the fourth quarter as they shut out Beaver River over the final eight minutes in a C Division semifinal at Beaver Falls.
Third-seeded South Lewis (5-12) plays top-seeded Thousand Islands for the C Division title at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at JCC.
Newell finished with 11 points, while Amelia Campbell blocked a school-record 15 shots for South Lewis.
Abigail Cornell led No. 2 Beaver River (5-12) with six points.
SACKETS HARBOR 37, COPENHAGEN 29
Samantha Menapace generated 13 points as the No. 2 Patriots defeated the No. 3 Golden Knights in a D Division semifinal in Sackets Harbor.
Sackets Harbor (11-6) earned a matchup with Alexandria for the D Division title at 8 p.m. Thursday at JCC. Olivia Kolb added eight points and six assists for the Patriots.
Logan Wheeler had nine points to lead Copenhagen (9-8).
ALEXANDRIA 57, LAFARGEVILLE 29
Lorraine Beard led a balanced attack with 14 points as the top-seeded Purple Ghosts downed the No. 4 Red Knights in a D Division semifinal at Alexandria Bay.
Jordan Bush, Rachael Calhoun, Hannah Lynch and Taylor Thomson each had nine points for Alexandria (12-4).
Lauren Labiendos 14 points led LaFargeville (5-12).
