FORT DRUM — A new study of the Watertown and post area has determined the area has an unmet net market need of 955 housing units.

The study, completed by GAR Associates, Amherst, was commissioned by the Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization. The results included market growth because of reduced deployment lengths, added dwell times for soldiers and increased family accompaniment rates.

The study said as many as 400 additional units could be generated as a result of market mobility, which is found in stabilized housing markets that are not growing. A previous study completed by Fort Drum determined the area’s net housing deficit was 1,035 units.

The new housing study can be found at www.fdrlo.org.
