DEXTER — A June graduate of General Brown High School was jailed early Tuesday after becoming the third person to be charged in alleged marijuana trafficking at the school.

Gregory H. Connell Jr., 18, of 8449 Middle Road, was arrested by state police on a felony charge of second-degree criminal sale of marijuana. Town of Watertown Justice Andrew N. Capone set bail at $5,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.

According to the court file, he is accused of selling marijuana on Jan. 31 to a 16-year-old on a Dexter street. Under state penal law, the charge involves selling more than 4 ounces to a person under the age of 18.

State police confirmed his arrest is in the same investigation in which Garrett T. Durdon, 16, of 28450 Perch Lake Road, and Anthony W. Biggs, 16, Dexter, were charged last week with marijuana sale. They both are also cited with second-degree sale. The court file does not specify whether Mr. Durdon or Mr. Biggs was the buyer in Mr. Connell’s case, and a state police investigator declined comment, saying the investigation is continuing. He also refused to say whether more arrests are anticipated.

The probe was opened Feb. 1 when a faculty member smelled what was thought to be the odor of marijuana in a boys’ restroom in the school. Mr. Durdon was found possessing the substance in the restroom, police said.
