Russell C. Marcum, 20, a former Fort Drum soldier who prompted a three-day September manhunt following a crime spree in several counties, was sentenced Friday in Oswego County Court to a prison term of up to four years, according to the Oswego Palladium Times.
He pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree burglary for a break-in on Sept. 11 at Ontario Mini Storage, the newspaper reported.
Mr. Marcum, from Morgantown, W.Va., may still face prosecution in other counties in connection with the spree, which began with the alleged unauthorized use of his parents Chevrolet Avalanche at Fort Drum. He allegedly left a trail of break-ins, including storage lockers and Preferred Power Sports, Route 11, that extended into Herkimer and Tompkins counties.
