A man was jailed Tuesday after he broke a window in his room at Allen’s Budget Motel, 24019 Route 342, town of Pamelia, and falsely reported that he had cut himself, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Kyle D. Perdue, 25, was arrested on charges of felony criminal mischief and third-degree falsely reporting an incident. Brownville Town Justice Richard M. Parker set bail at $5,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

Deputies and ambulance personnel were sent to the motel shortly before 2 p.m. after Mr. Perdue called 911 and reported he was injured. After he was approached on a second-floor balcony outside his room, deputies said, he was found not to be injured. Then, in front of a deputy, he punched out a window, according to the sheriff’s office.
