WATERVILLE Stephanie Ennist supplied 15 service points, six kills, five aces and eight digs to help lead the Sandy Creek volleyball team to a Section 3 Class C2 first-round victory over eighth-seeded Waterville on Tuesday, 3-0.
Ninth-seeded Sandy Creek won, 25-10, 25-23, 25-21, and advances to play top-seeded Beaver River in the quarterfinals on Friday at Beaver Falls.
Kylee Hanni recorded six kills, seven aces, three blocks and four digs, and Kylee Martin contributed four kills and 19 assists.
Freshman McKenna Guarasce, who was recently brought up to varsity, added nine kills and three blocks for Sandy Creek (8-9).
NEW HARTFORD 3, WATERTOWN 1
The ninth-seeded Spartans (6-5) defeated the No. 8 Cyclones 25-17, 13-25, 26-24, 25-23 in a Section 3 Class A first-round game at Watertown High School.
Nemesis Ruiz provided 13 kills, three aces, two blocks and 12 digs for the Cyclones. Jenna Hibbard pitched in with four aces, two kills, 10 assists and nine digs, and Samantha Storey added four kills, two aces and 11 assists for Watertown (9-10).
BOYS SWIMMING
LOWVILLE 107, CARTHAGE 65
Jeremy Kingsley won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races and anchored two first-place relays to help lead the Red Raiders to a Frontier League interdivision victory over the Comets (6-8, 4-7) at Carthage.
Chase Vanucchi took the 50 free and 100 butterfly and Stephen Larche captured the 200 individual medley and 100 free.
Both also contributed to a pair of relay wins for Lowville (8-6).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 108, SOUTH LEWIS 46
Addison Roberts captured the 50 and 100 free races and contributed to a pair of first-place relays to help fuel the Spartans to a Frontier League interdivision victory at Adams.
Taylor Lucas was fastest in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and John Jamieson claimed the 200 and 500 free races. Both swam on a winning relay for South Jefferson (8-5, 7-5).
South Lewis is 2-11.
