Potsdam boys hoops clinches share of NAC Central title

MASSENA — Mike Chambers scored six points in the fourth quarter and snagged seven rebounds to lead the Potsdam boys basketball team to a 38-33 win over Massena, clinching at least a tie for the Northern Athletic Conference Central Division championship on Tuesday.

Potsdam (15-2 overall, 6-1 division) can win the title outright if it defeats Ogdensburg Free Academy at home on Friday night. The Sandstoners have not lost a home game in three years.

Josh Adams had nine points and nine rebounds for Potsdam. Xavier Viskovich scored eight points to lead Massena (13-4, 5-2).

LISBON 55, HERMON-DEKALB 38

Kyle Binion scored 17 of his 26 points in the first half to lead Lisbon (11-6, 9-2) past the Demons in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Binion also grabbed 15 rebounds for Lisbon and Adam Felt added 19 points for the Golden Knights. Dylan Amo scored 24 points for the Demons (10-6, 7-4).

HARRISVILLE 68, CLIFTON-FINE 33

Joey Butts scored 20 points to pace the Pirates (11-6, 9-2) in a West Division victory over Clifton-Fine at Star Lake. Wayne Best tallied 10 points for Harrisville. Steven Robinson scored 11 to lead the Eagles (0-17, 0-11) and Servando Provost tossed in 10.

HEUVELTON 62, MORRISTOWN 35

Cody Holland scored 15 points and Connor Pierce scored 14 to send Heuvelton (11-6, 8-3) past the Green Rockets in a West Division game in Morristown. Dedrick Johnson and Jacob St. Pierre each added 10 points for Heuvelton. Brandon Aldrich scored 14 points for the Green Rockets (7-10, 3-8).

EDWARDS-KNOX 45, TUPPER LAKE 36

Ryan Meilleur’s 12 points sent Edwards-Knox (10-6, 6-5) past the Lumberjacks in an East Division game in Tupper Lake.

Ben Fuller added 10 points for the Cougars and Jordan Garrow led Tupper Lake (6-11, 4-7) with 15 points.

COLTON-PIERREPONT 54, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 45

Alex Bonno’s 26-point effort helped Colton-Pierrepont (5-12, 2-9) knock off the Panthers in an East Division game in Parishville.

Brent Hoyt scored 14 points for the Colts. Chase Donovan led the Panthers (4-14, 1-11) with 18 points and Tyler Gallagher tossed in 13.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 79, ST. REGIS FALLS 38

Matt Kendall led the Yellow Jackets (16-1, 10-1) with 24 points in an East Division victory over St. Regis Falls in Madrid.

Zach Marcellus and Greg Thompson both scored 14 points for Madrid-Waddington and Terry Crump added 10. Ty Daggett scored 10 to lead the Saints (8-9, 5-6).

OFA 70, BRUSHTON-MORA 42

Breton LaRose scored 13 points for the Blue Devils (12-4) in a nonleague win over Brushton-Moira in Ogdensburg.

Matt Piercey and Tyler Knowlton both produced 12 points for OFA and Devan Mills led the Panthers (6-9) with 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HERMON-DEKALB 48, HEUVELTON 35

Courtney Harrington and Kelly Williams each scored 12 points to help Hermon-DeKalb (14-2, 8-1) defeat the Bulldogs in a West Division game in Heuvelton.

Brianna Sayer tallied 11 points for Hermon-DeKalb and Maddie St. Pierre led the Bulldogs (9-8, 4-7) with 12 points.

WRESTLING

OFA 42, CLIFTON-FINE 18

Three Blue Devils (5-4) won by pin in a match against Clifton-Fine (0-8) at Canton. Bailey Phelps (145 pounds), Alex Cole (170) and Nate Sarkin (285) won by pin for OFA.
