Thoroughbreds dump Golden Knights twice

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Down the stretch, the Clarkson University men’s basketball team shot just 1-for-5 with a turnover while Skidmore grabbed the rebounds and converted free throws as the Golden Knights dropped a 79-74 Liberty League decision on Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights fell to 14-7 overall and 7-5 in the league, while Skidmore improved to 14-6, 8-3.

Gerard O’Shea had 15 points and six assists to lead Skidmore. Jerry Coleman led the Knights with 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting overall. John Coleman added in 14 points and seven rebounds.

■ The Clarkson women’s basketball team was officially eliminated from the Liberty League chase as one of the top four seeds in the nine-team conference after Tuesday’s 61-42 loss at Skidmore.

Carey Turner finished with 15 points and Chrissy Scanlon had 14 to lead Clarkson (7-13, 2-10). Three players finished in double figures for Skidmore (13-7, 6-5), led by Christina Gargiso’s 11 points.
