Louisville plans for wind turbine regulations law
JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS
LOUISVILLE - Citizens and interested parties in the town have until March 14 to file comments related to the State Environmental Quality Review for their pending wind turbine regulations law.
On March 14 the town board will open their 7 p.m. board meeting with a public hearing on the law itself, which prohibits wind turbines from appearing in the town along the St. Lawrence River.
That hearing was expected to take place Wednesday night, but town officials realized before they could pass the law, they had to conduct a SEQR. The board voted unanimously, with Roy A. Slim Beshaw not present, to name themselves as the lead agency for the SEQR, also noting that they believe the law will not have an adverse economic impact.
This is something we started four or five years ago and we just wanted to finish it, Town Supervisor Larry R. Legault said, adding hes not sure how much impact the towns law will ultimately have.
If any commercial development came to Louisville the state would handle that anyways, he said.
After pushing the public hearing on the law itself back one month, Town Clerk Joanne H. Cameron said the hearing will happen at next months meeting.
Copies of the law are available at the office, she said.
