■ DEFERIET — The village Board of Trustees accepted a bid of $1,600 for the sale of a snowblower that was declared excess inventory. The bid was submitted by Daniel Richardson and met the minimum requirement of at least $1,500.

■ The 13th annual North Country Chili Cook-Off, held Saturday at the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St., raised $40,000 for the Volunteer Transportation Center to help cover the cost of medical transportation of local veterans. Last year’s event raised $32,000.

■ SACKETS HARBOR — Parents with children who will enter kindergarten in September are asked to call Sackets Harbor Central School at 646-1029 so the district can update its census. Parents also are invited to the Family-Oriented Preschool Activity events March 1 and 8. More information about the events will be announced.
