Enza Mae Cring Sylver, 90, died February 10, at her home on 362 Wright Drive, Watertown, under the care of her family.
She was born May 18, 1921, in the Town of Diana, the daughter of, Eugene S. and Minnie Caldwell Cring. She graduated from Harrisville High School in 1939, the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Watertown, in June of 1942, as a register nurse.
She served as a nurse in the US Army Air Corp, from May 1943 to Feb. 1946, retiring as First Lieutenant. She later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Lawrence University, in 1949. She married Lyle W. Sylver September 5, 1948, at Asbury United Methodist Church. Mr. Sylver, a retired NYS Parole Officer, died October 30, 2003.
Mrs. Sylver worked for Jefferson County Dept. of Social Services for several years leaving in 1968, as a Grade B Supervisor. She later worked for the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, where she was Director of the Day Treatment Program, retiring after 15 years, in 1983.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sylver is survived by her son and daughter in law, James and Beverly Sylver, Watertown; a daughter, and her husband, Dawn and Charles Munk, Three Mile Bay; four grandchildren, Christina Sylver, Glen Park, Jamie Sylver, Clayton, Heather and Luke Youngs, Henderson and Jonathan and Brittany Munk, Cape Vincent; a great granddaughter Jaelyn Aguilar; a sister, Betty Marshall, Watertown; several nieces and nephews. A sister Helen Clarke died before her.
Memorial donations may be made to the, Save a Life Program, care of, Watertown Animal Hospital or a charity of ones choice.
Funeral service will be held, 11:00 AM, Tuesday February 14, at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, with the Rev. Leon VanWie, pastor, of Asbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Town of Watertown. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 – 8 at the Funeral Home.
