State police are asking for help to find a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run accident Saturday afternoon that involved five vehicles on Interstate 81 near the Pierrepont Manor and Ellisburg exit.

A driver of a black pickup struck a southbound car driven by Kevin Stewart, 35, County Route 2, Pulaski, about 1 p.m. and then took off a few minutes later, before troopers arrived, police said.

No one was injured in the chain-reaction accident.

Troopers said they have little to go on, so they are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver of the pickup.

The five-vehicle pileup was among a series of accidents that occurred about the same time Saturday along Interstate 81 because of icy roads and poor visibility.

A stretch of I-81, from Exit 40 to the Jefferson-Oswego county line, was closed for about two hours Saturday afternoon.
