With so much discouraging news about our school and area recently, it was a wonderful treat for me to spend Feb. 4 with my son at a really well-run story hour. This relatively new program is open to pre-K through 5th-grade students.
As with any story hour, it started with a few good books. Then it moved on to crafts which related to the books just read. Also available were some snacks. What was surprising to me was the number of students there, with a wide variety of ages. They really had a good turnout, especially since the program is fairly new. Hopefully attendance will only grow.
The other thing that struck me was that this was put on by the Girl Scouts as a way for the girls to give back and learn the value of community service. It is that kind of commitment that makes our community and school so very special. It is what makes me proud of being from Clifton-Fine.
