Joe Carvin, the Rye town supervisor, was in Watertown today to boost his campaign for Senate.
He's faced some criticism on the right because of his position on abortion and because he voted for President Obama.
But he said in an interview today that supporting abortion rights in the first 24 weeks of a pregnancy will help him beat Democratic Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand in liberal New York.
He fashioned himself as a Mitt Romney-esque candidate, saying that a "Romney-Carvin" Republican ticket would be better than a "(Rick) Santorum-(Wendy) Long" ticket.
