Kellie Greene said in a Facebook posting forwarded to me today that she may run for Congress against Rep. Bill Owens in November as an independent.
Her spokesman said something similar a few weeks ago, but his information was a little bit off — it's not the Independence Party, as he said, but an independent line that she could gather petitions for after the primaries.
Ms. Greene said in a post Sunday: "Off to my awesome church in Rochester!!!!!! Can't wait to see everyone this morning.........it's been too long.........Need to be with my church family and to worship my King!!!!!!!!!! It is for him that I live and I will serve where HE has called me......even if it means pissing off the GOP and running as an Independent!!!!!"
She also said on March 8 that the Facebook page was "private" and warned the media to stay off. It's not a request that I'm going to honor.
"Okay people, listen up.......THIS is my private page. What I do and say on here, and what my friends do and say on here, is not for the media. Hence the word PRIVATE. If you can't play by my rules, I know where the delete button is. Really hope that is clear." she said.
In previous postings, she's had harsh words for her Republican opponent, Matt Doheny (full disclosure: She's also criticized my work in one Facebook post, particularly my use of her Facebook posts).
The possibility of an independent line comes amid a series of endorsements for Mr. Doheny — from GOP committees to Conservative committees to tea party groups. To date, no committee has endorsed Ms. Greene yet, and there are only a few remaining. Ms. Greene's Facebook postings signal frustration about a process that she appears to believe is rigged in Mr. Doheny's favor.
So why not, after being alienated by them, "piss off" the GOP and run as an independent?
