Doheny camp has new finance director

Republican Matt Doheny's campaign had a less-than-gangbusters first quarter of fundraising in 2012.

The campaign raised a respectable $154,000, but the figure is only half of what the campaign raised in the last quarter of 2011. Mr. Doheny hopes to take on Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, in November, and may face Kellie Greene in a June 26 primary.

The fundraising drop could be attributed to the fact that the campaign has been focusing on securing petitions to get on the ballot, and not raising funds — though it held three fundraisers, in New York City, Syracuse and Watertown in March.

The position of fundraising director has been empty since February when Jason Feulner left. Spokesman Jude Seymour did not offer an immediate explanation as to why he left.

(A quick note: The finance director is a paid position in the Doheny campaign, while the honorary title of "finance chairman" is not paid. Harry Wilson is still in that post, Mr. Seymour said.)

The campaign said that a replacement for Mr. Feulner is starting tomorrow. Ryan Tomasich previously worked in legislative affairs at Boeing, according to his LinkedIn page.
