HAMMOND - Hammond Central School’s $6,609,307 budget for 2012-13 was approved 176-56 by district voters Tuesday.

An increase of $84,491 compared to the 2011-12 budget, the 2012-13 version represents a tax levy increase of 2 percent, from $2,998,944 to $3,058,923.

Incumbent Ronald E. Tulley II defeated Theodore P. “Ted” Elk 103-47 for one five year term on the board of education, while Kevin F. Ennis garnered Dr. James R. Tague’s seat, 138-29 over Scott Kron. Dr. Tague chose not to run for re-election.

Several write-in candidates, including William Tanner, Michelle McQueer, Lynn Spraybery, Dennis Martin, Russell Stewart, Leslie Tate and Charles Warren received votes.
