Man accused of taking wallet, resisting arrest

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies on Friday charged Thomas L. Bartram, 27, of 405 Gaffney Drive, Apt. 6, with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, after he allegedly took a wallet at the Walmart Supercenter, 20823 Route 3.

According to deputies, Mr. Bartram took and concealed the wallet, belonging to Melissa Carrasquillo, in his right front pants pocket. He also is accused of grabbing shopping carts and aggressively pushing them at patrons and store staff after being asked to leave the store. Confronted by deputies, Mr. Bartram allegedly ran away and resisted being placed into a patrol car.

Arrested at 11:05 p.m. Friday, he was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
