With little time left before the June 26 primary, Republican Kellie Greene has challenged Matt Doheny to a debate.
Mr. Doheny's campaign manager, Jeff Freeland, quickly accepted the challenge as Ms. Greene stood in Mr. Doheny's Watertown campaign office with several supporters, and the media, in tow.
Ms. Greene called a news conference and marched the media the several yards from Cam's to the Court Street Doheny HQ. The aggressive tactics show two things: Ms. Greene is in it to win it, and she is the candidate who is playing from behind (Mr. Doheny has a wide fundraising and name recognition edge; he's been running for the seat for three years now, while Ms. Greene only moved back to the area from Arizona late last year).
The details — who's the moderator? where will it take place? and when? — have yet to be ironed out.
The candidates are looking to take on Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, in November. Mr. Doheny has the Independence and Conservative party lines.
