Back now from a week of vacation. For my own purposes and for yours, here's a rundown of stuff that happened while I was away.

Matt Doheny is "not so sure" that the United nations is the best way to maintain relationships with other countries. (Glens Falls Post-Star)

Rep. Bill Owens has ordered ethics training for his staff in the wake of allegations that his trip to Taiwan last year broke House rules. (ProPublica)

License plate readers are going up around the north country. (WDT)

River watchers held a public hearing on a water level plan. (WDT)

Mr. Doheny, a Republican candidate for Congress against Democratic Rep. Bill Owens in November, was featured in a National Republican Congressional Campaign "Young Guns" video, seen here:

Doheny says: "I'd tell them, 'You can't love jobs, and hate the job creators.'"

An interesting side note: Mr. Doheny is seen in the video striding through Public Square in Watertown, right in front of the county Democratic Party headquarters.

Taking it right to the man.

There's much more that I'm surely missing. This post will be updated throughout the day.
