Arlene G. Wheeler, 84, of 29186 NYS Rt. 3 Black River, passed June 10, 2012 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident since October 2011.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wed., June 13th at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River with Rev. Walter Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tues., June 12th at the funeral home.

Born on January 30, 1928 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Fred and Gladys Satimore Hunt, she graduated from Watertown High School in 1947 and then attended nursing school at Mercy Hospital. Arlene then worked as an LPN for 30 years at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1988.

She married Harold E. Wheeler Jr., on September 23, 1969 in El Paso, TX. The couple resided in Black River. Her husband has been a parts and service salesman for several local truck distributors for many years.

The couple are members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Watertown. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, traveling, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Among her survivors are her husband, Harold E. Wheeler Jr., Black River; two sons and daughter in law, Fred M. Kucik, Sackets Harbor, Richard G. and Linda Kucik, Rotterdam, NY; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A son, John R. Kucik died in 1998.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
