LOWVILLE – Carroll R. Davis, 75, of State Route 12, passed away on Saturday, June 9th at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where he had resided since March of this year.

Carroll was born in Massena on June 16, 1936 the son of the late Robert and Louise Rose Narrow Davis. He attended Massena Public Schools where he entered the U.S. Army during high school, serving in Korea, and was proud of having the gifted talent of learning Korean and the Japanese languages’. Carroll was honorably discharged in 1960 and served in the Army Reserves until 1962.

He married Gloria Ann Kent in Massena on June 17, 1961 at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Robert U. Holmes, officiating. Carroll retired from Lewis County General Hospital after 19 years as an orderly. He also ran a small lawn care business in the Lowville area for many years.

Surviving Carroll is his wife, Gloria of Lowville; his three daughters, Dorothy Moellenhoff and her husband Alan of Loveland, CO; Patricia Davis of Boonville; Rebecca Palladino and her husband Lewis of Syracuse; seven grandchildren, Erica and her husband Mathew, Lewis III, Krista, Collin, Reece, Alexandra, Gillian, two great grandchildren, Kaylyn and Layla; two brothers and sisters-in-law, W. John and Georgette Davis of Massena; Bernard and Shirley Davis of Malone; two sisters, Nora Irish and Mary Courson both of Massena. He is predeceased by his three sisters, Betty, Margaret, and Evelyn, two brothers, Pat and Bill.

Carroll was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church, past commander and life member of both Lowville American Legion Post # 162, and Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912 V.F.W. He was a volunteer in his church and the community helping with team ALPHA for Relay for Life, chicken barbeques fund raisers for the church, American Legion and V.F.W.

He was an avid coin collector, loved fishing and working in his garden.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Lowville Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Beth O’Neil, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 13th at the Sundquist Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. where a veteran’s service will be held at 6:00 P.M.
