LOWVILLE — The academic leaders for the class of 2012 at Lowville Academy and Central School are Allison Griffiths and Logan Rohr.

Miss Griffiths, daughter of Barbara and Thomas Griffiths, has an academic average of 98.65. She is a member of the Drama and French Clubs, Lowacadian Yearbook, Gifted and Talented Program and National Honor Society. She participated in school musicals, senior high and select chorus, senior high band and jazz ensemble. For the past two summers, Miss Griffiths participated in the New York State Summer School of the Arts School of Choral Studies. She was on the tennis team for two years, represented Lowville Academy at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference her sophomore year and was nominated for the Elmira College Key Award her junior year.

Miss Griffiths received a Lions Club Student of the Month Award, 7 News Academic All Star Award, Advanced Placement Scholar Award and the Dean L. Harrington Scholarship through the New York State Summer School of the Arts her senior year. She plans to attend Westminster Choir College at Rider University, Princeton, N.J., to major in music education.

Mr. Rohr, son of Kelly and Bruce Rohr, has an academic average of 98.21. He was a three-year member of Spanish Club, a two-year member of the Peer Budy Program and a member of National Honor Society his senior year. He is a peer tutor and was a four-year member of the baseball and football teams, serving as captain, and was named an all star in football. Mr. Rohr received Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts his sophomore year, was nominated for the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Science Award and served as American Legion Boys State Representative in his senior year.

He received a Lions Club Student of the Month Award and All Central New York Scholar Athlete in football for his senior year. Mr. Rohr plans to attend Cornell University, Ithaca, to major in environmental engineering.
