OGDENSBURG — An Ogdensburg-based automobile dealer has purchased a bankrupt former produce market in the town of Oswegatchie, where it will sell recreational vehicles.

Blevins Auto Group has agreed to pay $275,000 for the former Woods Fruit and Vegetable Market, 7384 Route 68. The final sale is pending approval in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of New York in Utica. A decision is scheduled to be made June 26.

Woods owners William J. and Glenda Woods filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy protection March 27.

Blevins Vice President Lynn L. Blevins said the new location will be used for the sale of recreational vehicles now on the lot at the Ogdensburg dealership at 5914 Route 812.

“We’ve been looking around for six months,” he said. “We like the location.”

The Blevinses plan to spend an additional $200,000 to renovate their new building.

The Route 68 building opened in May 1987. It succeeded the grocery store on West South Street that was opened in 1947 by Mr. Woods’s father, William T. Woods.

Mr. Woods joined the family business in 1968 and took over after his father retired in 1973. He was later joined by his wife and sons, Christopher and Patrick.

The nine-acre site has a main building and greenhouse.

The Blevinses have other dealerships in Potsdam and Massena and two in Gouverneur. They sell Chrysler, Jeep, Ford and Dodge vehicles.
