CROGHAN – Gerald A. Boliver, 75, of 11248 State Route 812, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where he had resided the past two years. He had been in ill health for several years.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Priscilla; five daughters, Patricia and Maurice Dekin of Croghan; Kathleen Boliver of Croghan; Susan and Eric Martin of Mannsville, NY; Sandra and Joseph Madden of Plattsburgh, NY; Lori McLane and companion, Ronald Havener of Westernville, NY; three sons, Steven and Kathleen Boliver of Bernardston, MA; William and Vicki Boliver of Castorland, NY; Donald and Kristi Boliver of Morrisonville, NY; 20 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Robert Monnat of Castorland; Norma and Stanley Monnat of Castorland; Dorothy and Bernard Monnat of Croghan; Sharon and Glenn Sweeney of Carthage; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Frances “Pudge” Boliver and Edward Boliver and his companion, Carol of Croghan; nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jane Boliver in 1971 and a granddaughter, Sarah Dekin.

Gerald was born on December 30, 1936 in the Town of Croghan, a son of the late Alvin and Erma Kloster Boliver. He attended country school at Indian River and Father Leo Memorial School in Croghan. He married Priscilla Smith on May 4, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Church in Boonville, NY, with Father Edward Goulet officiating. Gerald worked on farms and at the Block Mill in Croghan until it burned. In 1961, he went to work for Climax Manufacturing in Lowville, until he became disabled in 1991.

He was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan and was an honorary member of the Peeler Swamp Hunting Club, Indian River.

He enjoyed playing cards, (only if he won); Bingo, and watching deer.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 15, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Waters Road, Lowville. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16th at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass, to be said at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility Activities Dept., 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367; the future Dialysis Center at Lewis County General Hospital, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367; or the Croghan Fire Department Ambulance Fund, PO Box 405 Croghan, NY 13327.

The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor staff at the nursing home and Lundy Transport of Carthage for all the care given to Gerald.
