MACOMB – Beverly A. Rice, 81, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at Kinney Nursing Home, Gouverneur.
Beverly was born February 2, 1931, in Gouverneur, the daughter of William and Anna Smith Devendorf.
Beverly married Forrest D. Rice on August 2, 1949, in Gouverneur.
The couple operated dairy farms in Richville and Pierces Corners until 1960, when they moved to the Genesee Trail and eventually the Robinson Road in Macomb. Beverly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, soap operas, and cooking for her family.
Mr. Rice passed away March 8, 2011.
Beverly is survived by two sons, Bruce Rice Sr. of Macomb, and Bobby Rice of Dexter; two daughters, Mary Rice of Hammond, and Jane Zeller of Macomb; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Donald, Delbert, and Ronald Devendorf, 3 sisters, Ruth Devendorf, Shirley Clarke, and Dorothy McIntyre, and several nieces and nephews. Beverly is predeceased by her husband, two sons, David and Emerson Rice, a daughter, Patsy Liscum, and a son-in-law Walter Zeller Jr.
Calling hours are private at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur, with Rev. Robert Laveck, pastor of Christian Life Fellowship, Gouverneur, officiating.
