CARTHAGE- Ruth Moore, 86, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since 2008.
She was born April 24, 1926 to William and Mary Myers Meek in Auburn, NY. They later moved to Oswegatchie, NY where she attended a one room school.
She married the late Howard F. Moore on April 23, 1942 in Pitcairn, NY. They lived in Pitcairn, Oswegatchie, and St. Regis Falls before moving to Carthage in 1961.
Mrs. Moore was employed by Kinney Drugs, Fort Drum, Jefferson County Home Health Care and the Lewis County ARC.
She was very active in Carthage First Church Of The Nazarene in Carthage serving as Sunday school teacher, Junior Church Instructor and President of the Missionary Society for many years.
She is survived by two brothers, Robert (Ilene) Meek Lockport, New York and Harold (Shirley) Meek Oswegatchie, N. Y.. Six Children Annitah (Bill) Hart Watertown, N. Y., Howard (Enza) Moore Fayetteville, GA. , Carol (James) OHara, Palm City, FL. , Nancy ( Bruce) Smith, Croghan, Gary (Crystal) Moore, Fayetteville, Ga., Terry (Cherie) Moore, Lowville. 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandchild.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 21,2012 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, State Street, Carthage followed by her funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Oswegatchie cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage.
Donations may be made in her name to the Mission Society, First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage.
