Clarkson summer baseball, soccer and volleyball camps scheduled

POTSDAM - Clarkson University Sports Academy will be hosting summer camps for baseball, soccer and volleyball.

BASEBALL CAMP

The baseball camp is slated to run July 9-12 and will provide a fundamental approach to the game of baseball emphasizing all phases of the game. It is open to players ages 7-18 of all skill levels. No prior experience is necessary and players are matched by age and skill level for drills and games.

Daily sessions are slated to run from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Clarkson head coach Jim Kane and assistant coach Bryan Harmer will be staffing the camp along with area college and high school coaches and collegiate baseball players.

SOCCER CAMP

The soccer camp is scheduled for July 9-12 and is open to players ages 5-18. Daily sessions for campers ages 5-11 will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and for ages 12-18 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Campers will have full access to university equipment and facilities and will be provided instruction on fundamental techniques and strategies of soccer. Individual player development is emphasized.

Staffing the camp are Clarkson women’s soccer head coach Sarah Raymond and assist Rachael Susher along with other assistants and players from both the men’s and women’s programs.

The cost for ages 5-11 is $130 per camper and for ages 12-18 is $140 per camper.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP

For the sixth straight year, the Clarkson University Volleyball program will be conducting one of the prestigious NIKE Volleyball All Skills Camp at Alumni Gymnasium from August 2-5.

Clarkson University joined a select group of volleyball programs to host a NIKE volleyball camp in 2007 and will be the only NIKE camp in the state of New York this summer. The Golden Knights NIKE camp is scheduled for August 2-5, 2012 and is ideal for all volleyball players ages 10-18 who want to get ready for the upcoming fall season. There are only 23 NIKE camps in the country this year and Clarkson’s is the only one in the New York Region.

Included in the package, which costs $345 for extended day camp (9 a.m.9 p.m.) and $445 for overnight campers, is six hours of on-court instruction, video breakdowns and meals. All campers will also receive a NIKE Volleyball t-shirt.
