Alice M. Mainville, 96, of the Highland Nursing Home, Massena, N.Y. died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at that facility where she had been a patient since 2007.
Born May 13, 1916 in Chazy Lake, N.Y., she was the daughter of Raymond and Julia Duprey White, Sr.
She first married Clifford Reynolds and the marriage ended in divorce. Her second marriage was to Earl Mainville on April 14, 1951. He predeceased her December 6, 1985.
Alice lived all her life in Malone and attended local schools. In her early years she worked for Tru-Stitch Moccasin Corp. in Malone and retired after 20 years when the firm closed for business. She then went on to do domestic work in Malone until 1971, when she retired to aid her husband whose health had failed. She was member of St. John Bosco Church, past member of the St. John Bosco Altar and Rosary Society, past member of the Malone Moose Lodge, Royal Neighbors of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars and former member of St. Marys Church in Brushton.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie and Warren Durkee of Bombay and Dale Ann McMahon and her companion, Frederick Allen, of Norfolk, N.Y.; two sons, Archie and Sandra Reynolds of Ocala, Fla. and Daniel and Ruby Reynolds of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Christopher McMahon, Christina McMahon, Rose Iby, Brad Reynolds, Troy Reynolds, Jeff Newland, Andrea Rockhill and Donald Reynolds, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Reynolds; two sisters, Florence Black and Theresa White; and two brothers, Raymond White and Archie White.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence County.
