Chaumont- William Sandy Earl Fulmer, 85, passed away June 20, 2012, at his home in Chaumont, with his family at his side.
He was born April 3, 1927, in Clayton, the son of Earl and Francis Delaney Fulmer. He attended Clayton High School and served in the US Navy at the Pensacola Naval Base, Pensacola, FL, from 1946 – 1948. He married Molly C. Wilkie, July 2, 1949, at the old Stone Church in Depauville. Mr. Fulmer was employed at Brooks Lumber Co. from 1949 to 1951. He later worked for New York Air Brake, Watertown, from 1952- 1964 and at George Brothers Hardware, Chaumont, from 1965 – 1972. He was also a self employed in plumbing, electrical and heating work from 1973 till retirement in 1999.
The family also owned the Atlantic Richmond Gas Station in Chaumont (also known as Fulmers Market) from 1963 – 1974. This is also where he started Fulmers Christmas Trees in 1965, a business his family still carries on today.
Surviving are his wife Molly, of 63 years, Chaumont; four sons, William George Fulmer, Chaumont, Craig and Sasipimol Fulmer, LasVegus, NV, Dana and Kelly Fulmer, Three Mile Bay and Travis and Tammy Fulmer, Chaumont; a daughter Candace and John Barton, Chaumont; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, James and John Fulmer and a sister Eva Necaster died before him.
William was the Chaumont Mens Fastpitch Softball manager from 1969- 1980. He was the Lyme Pony League Coach from 1984-1986. He was an avid bowler and a diehard NY Yankees fan. William also enjoyed NY Giants football and Syracuse Orange Basketball.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday June 25 at the Christian Life Center, Chaumont, with Pastor James Hayes officiating. Private family burial will be in New Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chaumont. There will be no calling hours arrangements are with the Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home.
