H/t to Jon Campbell at Gannett: We take a break from our regularly scheduled GOP primary coverage to bring you coverage of the district that Matt Doheny and Kellie Greene are looking to represent.
Via the CUNY's Center for Urban Research is a map that shows the racial breakdown and population sparsity of the state's congressional districts.
This will come as no surprise to people who live here — and even those that don't — but the map demonstrates that the 21st Congressional District, which includes Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties, among others, is mostly white and the most rural in the state.
Nearly 93 percent of those old enough to vote within the district's borders are white. About 3 percent are black, 2 percent are Hispanic and 1.4 percent are Asian.
Only Congressional District 27 is more white by population, according to the chart.
