Cape Vincent- Raymond E. Peterson, 83, of Huff Road, Cape Vincent, passed away June 23, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice Jefferson County.
He was born to the late Ira and Irma Sweet Peterson, in Lincoln, Maine, on February 16, 1929. He graduated from Lawrence (Mass.) High School, attended Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He served in the US Army for three years. Mr. Peterson worked in building construction for 35 years in the New York City metropolitan area, retiring in 1989. He is a member of Carpenters Local 279.
Upon retirement Mr. Peterson moved from Cold Spring, NY, to Three Mile Bay before settling in Cape Vincent, NY. He enjoyed remodeling his homes, boating and was an avid golfer. He and his wife of 55 years, the former Joan Rogers, spent winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Besides his wife, he is survived by is his son, Michael E. Peterson, and his partner Ann Mary Holmes, Birch Harbor, Maine.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, June 28, at The United Church of Cape Vincent, with the Rev. Mark Pierce, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours, arrangement are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape Vincent.
