I support Obamacare. Oh, how the Republican Party will rue the day they called the health-care reform law by that name. Twenty years from now, Obamacare will be as critical as Social Security, and as sacrosanct. It will be an anti-Republican rallying cry for decades.

My family is fortunate to have health care through our employers and now some of us with Medicare added. But 30 million Americans have not had health insurance. Most are uninsured through money/cost considerations. When you have limited income, your choice is between food and shelter immediately, or health care for future illnesses. Some are uninsured because insurance companies have been allowed to decide what is a previous existing condition, or because a member of their family already has a health condition.

In a first-world nation, there is no excuse for anyone to be without health care. The United States ranks behind even many Third World nations in caring for its citizens’ health.

Until this law was passed, the health insurance industry had been making outrageous profits on the money we pay for coverage. The Obamacare law limits them to only 20 percent of premiums on administrative costs with 80 percent having to go toward actual coverage. There are few industries that can demand that much profit, and yet the health insurance industry is fighting to maintain their unlimited, scandalous profits. It is no wonder the industry threw so much money to fight Obamacare.

We know that this Supreme Court is one of the most conservative in the history of the court. Their ruling to support the health-care reform law, Obamacare as we know it, is historic for our nation. God bless America.
