MASSENA — Two men were charged with petit larceny and one was charged with forgery after they allegedly attempted to steal beer.

Timothy F. Trimm, 38, of 187 Center St., and Joseph A. Rousau, 38, of 808 Route 39, were arrested by village police and charged with petit larceny shortly after midnight Sunday.

Mr. Trimm falsely gave his name as Chris Chapion, police said. Both men were released on appearance tickets.

Later, someone informed police of Mr. Trimm’s true identity. He was arrested again and sent to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $2,500 bail.
