ALEXANDRIA BAY — Diane M. Carpinello, 50, North Adams, Mass, was charged by state police with aggravated DWI at 3 p.m. Wednesday on Route 12in the village. Police said they received numerous calls about an erratic driver and Ms. Carpinello was located on Route 12 near Church Street, where she was allegedly observed driving across hazardous markings and with no tail lamps, for which she was also cited.

Police allege her blood alcohol content was 0.22 percent, which is above the state’s minimum legal level of 0.18 percent to warrant an aggravated DWI charge. A BAC of 0.08 percent or above is considered proof of intoxication under state law. She is due to answer the charges in Village Court.
