CLAYTON — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of County Routes 9 and 5.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said Linda R. Youngs, 54, of 36422 Route 37, Theresa, was traveling on Route 5 at about 2:30 p.m. when she failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded into the path of a vehicle operated on Route 9 by Robert G. Doud, 73, Cape Vincent. The Doud vehicle went off the road, struck a stop sign and went down an embankment.

Mr. Doud was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of a cut to his hand. Mrs. Youngs was treated at the scene for bruises to her chest and a passenger in her vehicle, Erin R. Recor, 10, was treated at the scene for a complaint of neck pain.

Mrs. Youngs was cited failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
