OGDENSBURG A combined car and pet wash will open by summers end now that its revised plans have been approved by the city.
Meeting Tuesday, the city Planning and Development Board approved plans for P&T Car and Pet Wash, 619 Canton St.
Were set to go, co-owner Robert A. McGrath said. Were hoping to be open by the end of summer.
A month ago, the proposal was in trouble. Mr. McGraths idea of two 24-hour-a-day, unsupervised businesses under the same roof prompted concern about noise and traffic congestion at the car wash and the potential for animal abuse by delinquents at the pet wash.
Mr. McGrath said the car wash still will be a 24-hour-a-day operation. But he will plant greenery in front of the building where the washed vehicles exit as a buffer against noise and headlight glare on homes on the other side of Canton Street.
The vending-machine pet washs hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will be supervised by Mr. McGraths wife, Sue M.
We want to work with the neighbors, he said.
In other business, the board approved site plans for Legendary Tattoo at 234 Ford St. Owner Ethan D. Henry has been operating his one-man business at Ford and Franklin streets.
