John F. Murphy


THERESA — John F. Murphy, 40 of LaFargeville Road died unexpectedly July 5, 2012.

Born April 20, 1972 in Corning, NY, he was the son of John M. and Cynthia J. Coon Murphy. He graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush in 1990 and Utica College with his BSN in 1997.

He married Jennifer Snyder on September 29, 2002 in Schodack. A previous marriage ended in divorce.

Mr. Murphy began his nursing career at Faxton Hospital in Utica before moving to the Albany area. He worked at St. Peter’s Hospital there where he first met his wife, Jennifer. He was most recently employed at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

He was a member of the Theresa Fire Department and life time member of the Frankfort Fire Department.

Mr. Murphy enjoyed playing the piano and French horn, collecting coins, spending time with his family and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.

Survivors including his wife, Jennifer, are four daughters, Anastasia Murphy, her fiancÚ, Matthew Purificato and their daughter Hannalee Grace Purificato, Schodack, Leia Murphy, Schodack, Ciara Murphy and Jenna Murphy, both of Theresa; his father, John M. Murphy, Frankfort; his mother, Cynthia J. Tippins, Rensselaer; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Traci Murphy and their three sons, Grady, Casey and Max, all of CT; a sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Chris Thompson and their three children, Brittany Wolfe, Joshua Thompson and Shea Thompson, Nassau; a sister in-law, Yvonne Colby and her four sons, Alex, Ashton, Austin and Addison, all of Theresa; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Cheryl Snyder, Hammond; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be 10 am Wednesday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa with Rev. Thomas Kornmyer of St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church officiating.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
